At 08:08 a.m. on Aug. 5, Korea's first lunar orbiter 'Danuri' was successfully launched from Cape Canaveral Space Force Base in the U.S.

The lunar orbiter Danuri was launched on SpaceX's Falcon 8 projectile from Cape Canaveral U.S.

Danuri will travel in space for four and a half months and arrive in orbit on Dec. 16.

Since then, researchers at the Korea Aerospace Research Institute will run Danuri for about four and a half months along the trajectory designed in cooperation with the U.S. National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA).

The Korea Aerospace Research Institute will check whether Danuri succeeded in entering the trajectory a month before its target at around 2 p.m. today by analyzing projectile separation information.

Danuri will go into orbit in mid-December after a four-and-a-half-month flight. If Danuri successfully arrives on the moon in December and begins its exploration mission, Korea will become the seventh lunar explorer after the United States, Russia, Europe, Japan, China, and India.

Danuri contains five types of payloads developed in Korea, including high-resolution cameras, wide-field polarization cameras, magnetic field meters, gamma-ray spectroscopy, and space Internet, and "Sadow Cam" developed by NASA.

In addition, the Deep Space Exploration (DTN) using space Internet equipment for two-way communication between Earth and space is the world's first attempt.

Files stored in space Internet devices include ETRI promotional videos and DTN technology explanation videos, as well as the group BTS's song "Dynamite," which will be tested to play and send to Earth.

In addition, Danuri will use its scientific equipment to create a polarization map of the entire moon surface, explore candidate sites for landing on the moon in Korea, measure magnetic fields, and survey lunar resources.

The development of science and technology in Korea, which sends the first lunar probe to the moon and conducts the world's first space Internet test, stands out.

I continue to support the progress of science and technology in Korea.
